DOT (American b.1990)
DOT, Daniel Shoykhet, an American born artist raised in New York and Chicago, has quickly gained momentum in the art space. His signature style has connections to the abstract expressionists and the optical art movement of the 20th century. His style has garnered interest from collectors, galleries, and corporate brands alike. Through the use of repeating geometric patterns enhanced by different color theories, a hallucinatory visual field emerges. This leads the viewer's perception to be pushed into a moment of visual confusion. According to theories in Neuroplasticity, these shifts of perception are catalysts that have the potential to rewire neural pathways and to ultimately transform the thinking and behavior of the viewer. Being self-taught, DOT leans into his instincts to develop his artistic explorations. His break-out mural work in Chicago has led to DOT’s creation of over a dozen murals and gallery exhibitions across the US. While maintaining a rigorous studio practice in his hometown of LA.
